Job Type: 12+ months Contractor role and Full-Time

Reporting to: Team Lead, Offshore PMO

Location: Dublin, Ireland.  Remote / Home-Based role with requirement 3x days in the Dublin office, every 3x weeks

Working directly for our client the Infrastructure Delivery Partner to their client , who develops, manages, and operates Ireland’s Electricity Grid. They are responsible for the safe, secure and reliable supply of Ireland’s Electricity. Their job is to bring power from where it is generated to where it is needed throughout Ireland, Onshore and Offshore. Whilst they are not responsible for generating electricity or building windfarms, they are responsible for connecting Electricity Generation Infrastructure, such as Offshore and Onshore Windfarms, into our National Electricity Grid.

The Irish Government is taking major steps to make Ireland carbon neutral by 2050. These steps include a commitment to increase the proportion of Electricity Generated from renewable sources. Ireland’s Climate Action Plan places Offshore Wind at the centre of the State’s commitment to producing up to 80% of Ireland’s energy from renewable sources. As part of the Phase 2 South Coast Offshore Programme, their plans to develop an Offshore Electricity Transmission system to deliver Electricity from Offshore Wind Farm (s) (OWFs) off the south coast of Ireland.

Job Description

The role will be in the Offshore Team, where the successful candidate will fulfil the role of Risk Manager. The risk manager will be working within the Offshore PMO team and support the risk management across the offshore organisation.

The Offshore PMO Risk Manager supports the programme by maintaining high quality risk registers and ensuring effective risk management across offshore workstreams. The role focuses on day-to-day coordination, updating, tracking, and reporting of risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies (RAID) within an Offshore Infrastructure or Offshore Wind Programme. The risk manager will work closely with project managers, engineering teams, planners, and commercial staff to ensure risks are accurately captured, assessed, and mitigated.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Register Management

  • Own, maintain, and update project and programme risk registers using PMO approved tools.
  • Ensure all risks include clear descriptions, consistent scoring, mitigation actions, and assigned owners.
  • Monitor overdue actions and follow up with risk owners to maintain register accuracy.
  • Track changes and maintain audit trails and version control.

Risk Identification & Facilitation

  • Support risk identification by organising and facilitating regular risk workshops with Offshore Project Managers, engineering, HSE, procurement, etc.
  • Capture risks, issues, and opportunities accurately and in line with PMO standards.
  • Ensure correct categorisation (e.g., technical, interface, schedule, cost, offshore operations).

Assessment & Analysis

  • Support Qualitative Assessments (probability, impact, risk scoring).
  • Perform basic quantitative reviews, such as exposure calculations and input preparation for QRA led by senior risk manager.
  • Work with planning and cost teams to ensure schedule and cost impacts are reflected correctly.

Reporting & Communication

  • Produce weekly and monthly risk reports and dashboards for Project Managers and the PMO.
  • Highlight top risks, new/emerging risks, overdue actions, and trends.
  • Escalate significant risks in line with governance thresholds.
  • Present concise updates during team meetings and risk review sessions.

Mitigation Oversight

  • Work with risk owners to ensure mitigations are realistic and progress is clearly tracked.
  • Follow up on action dates and challenge where actions lack clarity or effectiveness.
  • Support capturing lessons learned and transitioning risks between project stages.

Compliance & Process Adherence

  • Ensure risk management processes follow PMO standards and Offshore Programme requirements.
  • Support internal audits and ensure documentation is complete and accessible.
  • Help train and coach project team members on risk processes and tools.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Offshore Renewables, Project Management or similar
  • Chartership Or Membership of a professional body and several years relevant experience, NFQ 8, Relevant Leadership and Management
  • Training 10 years of demonstrated relevant work experience
  • Professional qualification in risk, project controls, or project management desirable

advantage

  • Experience maintaining Risk Registers within a PMO or project controls environment.
  • Understanding of Offshore Project Delivery (Offshore Wind, Offshore Transmission, Marine Construction, Oil & Gas, or Major Infrastructure).
  • Understanding of Offshore Construction Risks such as weather downtime, fabrication, marine an advantage
  • Strong proficiency in risk tools (e.g., OPC, ARM, Safran, Primavera Risk).
  • Good stakeholder‑management skills with the ability to challenge and support risk owners.
  • Competence in MS Excel, Power BI, and project reporting tools.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
